Bad day for the CG 40514 at the Cape. The morning this incident was discovered it was funny to see the BM1 that had the OOD running down to the Boat House in his skivies to sign the log for his rounds the night before. Somehow a running hose had been left in the 514????? It was in a short time that the Snipe's and the ET's had her up and running!
1964-1965 Bad night for the CG36554 and new BMC Paul Miller. They answered a phony SOS, sent by a boy with a flash light at the edge of the surf at an airplane. The 554 and crew were looking in the surf at night off of Longbeach WA for the SOS reported by the airplane. The Boat was pitch polled bow over. People on the beach reported seeing the running lights were bow on to the beach. Then all of the sudden came back into view upside down. Chief Miller lost his new Chiefs hat and his Engineer over the side. Never got his new Chiefs hat back! But Chief Miller did a good job of getting back his engineer. Who had minor injuries. Bad night for the Chiefs New Hat and CG 36554. Just shows that things go bad at times. The Kid was caught later and wrote a letter of apology to Chief Miller, which was accepted!

Over and over again and again! Taking a pounding and still coming back for more! The Boats and the adrrenaline induced Surf Crews. Come on before we go in, just one more breaker, please!

Decommissioning Crew at Point Adams 1967. The men and boats all went over to The Cape. The Point was a great unit to serve at. Anyone recognize them selves?
Helo Drill's, how many of us did the Red Baron Dip?

Who says a Master Chief doesn't know how to get wet in a test? MC Jack Woods looking for a pickup after he departed a 26 foot bartender in a test. Second picture is photo of the test, sorry it is very blurred. The 26 foot bartender was not selfright and not what the CG need.

Who said there are no fish left? Maybe it was because we caught most of them?
The Cape's and the Point's 36'
The old Pilot Boat Peacock, new old Pilot Boat Peacock

The 514 sure did get in a lot of photo's, note the old below deck exhaust in the center photo!

Bad day for anyone who ran a 40' when you see this one! Tuff way for a Great Boat to end. Brings tears to your eye's doesn't it!

Some even would do anything to get to hang out with famous actors that were male but impersonating a female. And he/she was a Dog! The Lassie Movie! Notice the mount for the camera on the back. A hint to the age of the movie is the old useless RCA Radar that never worked well Dome. No Race Stripe also!

An Enginman's dream, just like it was when it was brand new. But it was now 10 years old! Nice job!

Need to pick your brains on these next to pictures in living color! Can any one tell the story behind the 44 that wanted to be a Columbia River Pilot Boat? Let us know please!

Still looking for pictures. We have a lot mostly contributed by Stretch Henderson, Ron Burkhardt, Don Davis, Ken Read, Giles Vanderhoof, Frank Wescovich, Bob Meneghini, Stan Porter and a few others. So dig down and see what you can find, everyone counts!
